Freaky Foot Tours

We started Freaky Foot Tours in downtown Flagstaff in 2015, and it is still home base. We are a mother and son team, Susan Johnson and Nick Jones, with five generations of Arizona roots, and every tour grows out of Susan’s original research into this railroad boomtown’s saloons, rivalries, and unsolved cases. Our local guides walk those stories with guests day and night, 7,000 feet up.

The Haunted History Tour is Flagstaff’s original ghost tour: the phantom bellboy of the Hotel Monte Vista, the guest who never checked out of the Weatherford’s Zane Grey Ballroom, the figure in the Orpheum balcony, and the Walkup case that became one of Susan’s books. Mountain Town of Madness is the 18+ version, with darker stories and a true crime case saved just for adults. By day, the Mural Tour introduces the artists behind downtown’s walls by name, and the Route 66 Centennial Walking Tour follows the 1926 and 1934 alignments of the Mother Road in its 100th year. Private tours, including our haunted pub crawl, are available by request. We also created and host Howl-O-Ween, Flagstaff’s Halloween pet parade and costume contest.
